Home Farm Hothorpe New Sponsor for Supreme Horse of the Year

Horse of the Year Show (HOYS), “The World’s Most Famous Horse Show”, is delighted to announce that Terry Spraggett and Lucinda White of Home Farm Hothorpe and the Mulbrooke Stud are to sponsor the Supreme Horse of the Year Championship. Due to take place on Sunday 7th October in the Andrews Bowen International Arena at Birmingham’s NEC, the championship will form part of the much-anticipated gala night performance.

Previously known as the Champion of Champions, this exciting competition is the climax to the prestigious ridden showing classes at Horse of the Year Show. The champions of 11 classes, held throughout the week, are invited to come forward for the Home Farm Hothorpe and the Mulbrooke Stud Supreme Horse of the Year Championship with a £1,000 prize to the winner.

For the first time this year, the champion of the SEIB Racehorse to Riding Horse Championship will also be invited to enter the class, following a considerable growth in both popularity and quality of horses coming forward since the class’ first appearance at Horse of the Year Show several years ago.

Last year’s Supreme Horse of the Year was Jackie Beatham’s Comberton Clancy, winner of the Topham Barnes Hack of the Year, ridden by Jayne Webber. In 2010, it was Jill Jerram’s Dunbeacon who took the honours, ridden side saddle by Katie Jerram. The pair had won the Mobile Phones 4 Business Ladies Hunter of the Year and the lightweight section of the TopSpec Show Hunter of the Year earlier in the week.

Sponsors Terry Spraggett and Lucinda White, together with their daughter Jasean, run Home Farm; a modern training facility being developed with a first class, newly built equestrian complex. Home Farm Hothorpe is located in 140 acres of beautiful countryside on the Leicestershire/Northampton borders with excellent motorway links. The centre is available to hire by individuals, clubs, instructors and coaches with World Class coaching and clinics available to all.

Helena Pettit from Grandstand Media Ltd, organiser of Horse of the Year Show, added: “The pinnacle of the ridden showing classes, the Supreme Horse of the Year is, for many, a title of dreams. It’s always a joy to see some of the top horses in the country parade before us as we wait to see who will be crowned champion of champions. We’re delighted that Terry Spraggett and Lucinda White, with their passion and experience within the showing world, are to sponsor the class this year.”

The 2012 Horse of the Year Show promises to be another exceptional not-to-be missed event! It will host the finals of the most highly regarded national showing and show jumping championships, alongside international show jumping and an exciting line-up of equestrian entertainment, including the exclusive display The Final Charge by Atkinson Action Horses, the Equimax Pony Club Mounted Games for the Prince Philip Cup, Osborne Refrigerators Scurry Racing, the Classic Dressage Master Class Richard Davison and a Show Jumping lecture demonstration with Tim Stockdale. The popular Think Like a Pony Interactive Feature Area will make a welcome return, and of course the famous HOYS Retail Village, featuring hundreds of trade stands, will be on site to tempt every taste! In addition, renowned actor Brian Blessed will read Ode to the Horse, while “Britain’s Got Talent” sensations Only Boys Aloud will perform during an extra special finale. Visitors are advised to book their tickets early to avoid disappointment.
